Day 07: a BL manga you like just for the sex scenes
Viewfinder by Yamane Ayano

Also, her series Crimson Spell.

Don’t get me wrong, Viewfinder isn’t a bad series by any means. I’m just totally totally not the type to enjoy big huge action dramas. I also don’t like any of the characters, really. There’s absolutely nothing in this manga that keeps me coming back for more—except for the sex scenes. Because while Yamane Ayano doesn’t seem too keen on writing any story or characters I particularly enjoy, she definitely knows how to draw some good sex. Generally when I think back and try to remember the plots of her manga, all I recall are things like “oh that chapter had a really good bed scene” but I never remember anything that led up to it nor do I remember what happened after. It’s just a blur of pretty art and action and random characters. And sex.

LOL @ “and sex.” I agree, the sex in the Viewfinder series is very well-drawn and, well…hot. :p

Ahh pretty good choice. You are right, this is sex with a story XD. Yamane Ayano rocks in this department.

Haha sadly since I don’t like the plot Viewfinder is pretty much (in my mind) the equivalent of a BOY’S Pierce manga—something you read just for the sex scenes. I prefer light stories to big action thrillers with tons of drama. But as long as the sex scenes are good I’ll keep reading it.

♥!!! Totally agree! For me, Yamane Ayano belongs in the category of “authors who do better porn than story.” I’m always looking forward to new chapters from her….mostly for the porn.

haha I know, right? I’m disappointed that the latest few chapters don’t have any sex at all—just a bunch of plot. I’m tempted to ask someone else who’s reading it to tell me the next time there’s sex so I can become interested again.

    Oh yes. The sex. LOL

      The sex is delicious. :9

wow i wouldn´t have thougth that someone else (exept me) doesn´t really like her stories^^ (everyone i know is crazy about her stories)…i totally agree with you…art and sex is wonderful, but in my opinion she doesn´t really draw/write stories, which let you heart beat faster and let you feel so fluffy

I agree—Viewfinder is probably one of the top three manga I see most often recommended and revered. (If not THE most often recommended BL manga. I’m sure it fights with Koisuru Boukun over that title often.) Which is understandable, because when you think about it people usually tend to like books and movies television shows that are full of drama and action and suspense. But for me personally, I prefer the drama and emotion that comes with smaller slice-of-life stories, possibly because they’re easy to relate to. So for me there’s nothing interesting and intense in Viewfinder. It didn’t make me cry or clench my teeth or have to walk away from the book to calm myself down.

But the sex scenes were nice! /o/

Yup sex scenes are very memorable!

I am contemplating to buy the licensed version or not. June is known for censoring a lot of their titles. I don’t think I want to buy a book where even the slightest remote area, such as fluids, are censored because the book’s greatest asset are the sex scenes.

Anyways regarding the book calling … I personally don’t like BLU. They don’t translate SFX!!!! UH WTF! that’s what I said when I got my first book by them, junjou romantica. Obviously I also hate not buying a complete set so I still buy this title. I was also told that maybe this company doesn’t censor so I sometimes buy one or two of their books only if I am a die hard fan of that particular artist. However, I tend to avoid buying books by Tokyopop who also owns BLU and definitely avoid JUNE if I don’t have solid evidence that the book is not censored.

I know it sounds stupid to not buy books for these kinds of reasons, BUT to me I enjoy reading mangas mostly for the pictures. So censorship is a real no-no when it comes to buying the licensed version, I mean how can you get satisfaction out of altered sex scenes where you can’t really see anything @_@. Also, there is no point in english translated book when the sound effects are in Japanese you lose the motion that is going on and its a real downer when you sit there reading a book thinking to yourself I wonder what this word saids.

Haha sadly I do have books from both these companies >_< I just wish other people can complain to them like I do so they can change sometimes and make their books better.

grrr waiting for that viewfinder vol 1 coming out soon :)

lol i have to agree…. DAYUM the sex scenes are absolutely hot. Her guys are deliciously looking too… especially the uke! But yah, she’s pretty damn popular because of her good bed scenes. -giggle-

I pretty much agree with this XD
I do like the main seme dude (I can’t even remember his name) but for the most part am not a fan of the plot, etc. I often wonder why people like this manga so much because for me the best part is the sex scenes, as well.
