my order for July finally came wahhhhh. I had a lot of drama over this order, because part of me wanted to buy through Honto again (for the cheaper shipping) but Honto doesn’t stock Boy’s Pierce and there was no way in hell I was going to not buy Boy’s Pierce this month because I needed (NEEDED!!!) to know if Kou-chan was going to cheat on Kishi. It was of utmost importance. And then I really really wanted Toshishita Kareshi no Renai Kanriguse but uh… evidently every other fujoshi in Japan also wanted that book because it’s been backstocked for rerelease on August 12th. So much for that. Then Kevin Komine’s book went out of stock. So. I had to cancel and redo and rethink this order about a million times. Life is so hard for this unfortunate little fujoshi.
but it’s here now (except one book that should come tomorrow) so–! We can rejoice!
first off can we just laugh at how ridiculously and unnecessarily large BexBoy GOLD is? This is my first time buying it, and I already knew it was bigger than most, but THAT BIG? Really? I’m already running hilariously low on space to store and display all my books ahhhh.
Well I was going through my books that arrived from my order in August and I figured a lot of people said it would be okay it I just talked randomly about BL-related personal stuff so. Here’s my boring post about the books I’ve gotten so far from my August order. Still yet to arrive are Castle Mango (I shoved it in my order when it was still supposed to come out in August so now they’re just treating it like a perorder orz) and Yamada Maya’s book through drap (which should be here today actually) so I can’t really talk about those. But I can talk about my other stuff that has arrived recently so sdgh;ldsg;s
Initially I was just taking out the inside pamphlets from the books and placing them in the special box of BL stuff where I keep pamphlets and special papers and extras. Unfortunately I had to start using another box recently—
—since the other one is too full. Thank goodness I am an obsessively storage-oriented person so I had an extra box lying around ready to become a BL pamphlet container.
Anyway, onto talking about my actual books.
sorry in advance that this post is kind of long and image-heavy. /;w;\
One of my favorite sites is back from hiatus and brought with it some really great BL release news so I figured I’d share some of the ones I’m particularly excited about.
♔ → First, Chara’s July 25th releases!
Kojima Lalako “Ano Ko to Juliet”
Kitazawa Kyou “101ban wa Uke Tsukemasen!”
Hidaka Shouko “Yuuutsu na Asa” vol.4
Obviously, I’m sure you all know the one I have my eye on most: Kojima Lalako! It has officially been over a year since her initial 3-in-a-row releases and even though I get a taste of her work in magazines and anthologies every now and then it’s just not enough. I don’t think I’ve read many of her Chara releases so I can’t wait to get my hands on her book through them. Unfortunately I’ll have to either track it down while I’m on vacation or wait until late August, but I have my fingers crossed for an in-store pick-up! *A*)
♔ → Then Asuka’s late June releases list Takatsuki Noboru. It feels like forever since I’ve read something by her (him?? idk who cares) so I’ll definitely be tempted to pick that one up. The title is “Ore no Kokoro ni Fumikomu na!”
♔ → Craft then has a new Yamamoto Kotetsuko book lined up for early July, titled “Fukurou-kun to Kare”. Yamamoto’s books are never a miss for me personally, and I don’t think I’ve seen/read a single chapter of this one. Distressing! I guess I’ll have to shove it into my June order so I don’t have to wait forever to read it haha.
♔ → Psyche Delico then has a new book coming out through Citron. This one isn’t quite as exciting for me personally (since I buy Citron and thus already read a majority of the stories I’m sure) but I’ll definitely be buying it nonetheless just because it’s Psyche Delico. When I saw her name on the list I had my fingers crossed for a new book through Junet, but alas! Her Citron stories are good too so I hope everyone will still consider giving them a chance.
♔ → One I’m super super suuuuuuper pumped about is Mita Ori, who has a book “Shiro no Koro” through Marble in late July. I don’t know if you ladies recall, but she’s the author of one of my very favorite BL oneshots Mahou no Okusuri. Now that she’s officially releasing a book I hope more and more people will be able to read her stories, which are all very charming and go wonderfully with her sketchy art style. I highly recommend it!
♔ → Not as exciting for me personally since I’m not into doujinshi collections, but for hardcore Minazuki Akira fans there’s a new book to look out for: her doujinshi work will be compiled and released by Poe Backs/Fusion Comics in late July!
♔ → Moto Haruhira has a new book coming out through drap, “Mazu wa, Hitokuchi”, in late July as well. tbh I haven’t really been reading this one so closely in drap (sometimes it’s so annoying to keep up with series in magazines, unfortunately… orz;;) so I’ll probably be buying this. Her art is so cute and I don’t want to skip something that could potentially be really great but I haven’t given a proper chance to.
♔ → Finally, finally, Shinomiya Shino’s book through EDGE will be released on July 27th. Titled “The way I am”, it seems like such a charming story but since I don’t buy OPERA regularly I’ve missed so many chapters. I’m hoping after this, Aniya’s book will also be coming out soon. It does seem to have hit the climax…
♔ → Another one that feels like it’s been making me wait for a very very long time, Koiwazurai Shibito’s book through Junet will finally be released this coming June! In the few magazines I bought that had her, she seemed to have a penchant for writing perverted semi-depressing stories, which are my favorites. (see: Aniya’s Kangoku 69) So I would like to see them in full. ;; Finally, here’s my chance! Speaking of Junet, I wonder if they’re ever release Yonekura Kengo’s story sighhh.
♔ → And then the final one I wanted to talk about: drap already has their releases through November planned! Once again, Ootsuki Miu is their late-in-the-year pick and supposedly the compiled version of Vanilla Resort will be released November 2nd. Considering the official series is just starting (and there are so far only two chapters) that’s really planning ahead! But I guess that means there’s a lot of Ootsuki to expect in the coming months from drap? Other releases include Nekota Yonezou in August, and an amazing quadruple-whammy of Akahoshi Jake (yay!!), Yamada Maya, Hino Garasu and Konjiki Runa all in September. Thank goodness that’s an odd-numbered, non-anthology month!
Hello! Sorry again for my absence. orz I read Watase Yuu’s Sakura Gari yesterday though I’m not exactly sure I want to talk about it. Maybe next time I do some short reviews. But I have some covers I wanted to share from this month’s releases since I personally found them rather exciting, so I guess we’ll get on with that!
First, just tiny little samples of Minazuki Akira and Mochimeko’s covers for their releases through LYNX and Rutile respectively!
Both very cute and very much on my to-buy list. I’ve only read one story by Minazuki Akira in LYNX as far as I can recall, and I’m always excited to see more work from her. And of course you just can’t go wrong with Mochimeko when you’re in the mood for something fluffy and amazing—especially since this is a work through Rutile.
♔ → For those interested, I did a small write-up for one of the stories from Cab here. Originally I wasn’t going to link that but I’ve been lazy lately and skipping from anthology to anthology so I don’t know how long it will be before I finish anything and am able to post properly.
♔ → Rutile posted the latest cover to twitter last night! Very cute! I so wish I could buy this issue since Matsumoto Miecohouse’s story was so promising in the first chapter and Rutile has yet to even release a tankoubon of her previous chapters through them since Terebi-kun. I guess I can only sit back and try to be patient. /;A;\ Though also snazzy is the fact that Jaryuu Dokuro is finally officially in this volume again! And Techno Samata’s continued story was also really good. And Hirakita Yuya is in this volume. (….maybe I should buy it…?)
Anyway for more information including all the color inserts, a full mangaka lineup and what to expect in the next volume you can check Rutile’s site!
♔ → Kojima Lalako set up a tumblr account! This is super exciting aside from the fact that I can’t… follow… her… orz;;;; I guess that’s my punishment for running a tumblr blog that’s 100% copyright infringement.
Speaking of Kojima, she’s in Chara Selection this month! A story about childhood friends, one of which who’s an idol…? Hmmm sounds like her story that ran in b-Boy Cube. Perhaps a continuation?
♔ → Shockingly, HertZ already has their cover posted as well: click! Minase Masara! However, they still haven’t listed their full lineup. These days you can never go by the lineup listed in the end of the last book so I guess I’ll just wait and see who’ll be in this next issue. Also, Minase Masara’s Aishuu tankoubon cover was posted here. Very unusual and pretty.
♔ → Fancy that, I want to talk about more covers.
♔ → More and more “Ganbare Nihon!” illustrations and messages get posted to Libre every day, so I figured I would repost it just in case no one has gone back since it was originally posted. They are all very lovely. It’s very exciting when you see something from your favorite mangaka. Last night Jaryuu Dokuro’s illustration got posted and it’s quite beautiful.
♔ → Katou Setsuko is in the newest issue of Chara Selection, but Kojima Lalako is once again absent. Which is a sadness of well as a relief—a sadness because more Kojima Lalako is always a good thing and so the opposite is bad, and a relief because. Well.
♔ → Which bring me to the next thing I wanted to talk about. Actually I spend an embarrassingly large portion of my time thinking about things I can start in BL fandom. Yesterday I was considering a BL manga exchange (same as a book exchange except we would only be trading BL manga) but then it occurred to me that my collector’s mentality is too much and would get in the way of my willingness to trade away any of the manga I even slightly liked. But I’ve been toying with this idea for a while: a BL manga scan exchange.
It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like; if I have a magazine or anthology that you couldn’t afford and you have a magazine or anthology that I couldn’t afford, then we can trade scans for the stories from the magazine that we each want. I’m opening this up because it’s happening more and more often now that I really want to read a story from a magazine or anthology but I can’t afford it, and because my luck is just that bad by the time it comes to make my order next month the damn thing is out of print already. (I’m looking at you, JUNK!BOY, you bastard-ass publication. 8|) I would wait for a tankoubon release but… well… I’m never exactly been lauded for my patience, really.
But anyway, that is my offer to anyone reading my blog: I am hereby offering scans from my magazines and anthologies if you are willing to scan some of the stories I need from the books I can’t afford.
♔ → Morozumi Sumitomo posted the cover to her latest release on twitter: click! As Konjiki Runa put it, “tanoshimi desuuuuuuuuu!!”
♔ → The new release through Baby Comics looks really cute, doesn’t it? Really, really cute. *w*
♔ → Canna updated their site with the information for the upcoming anthology release. A double cover! Very interesting! I guess now we’ll get to see what those Suzukura Hal illustrations were all about. Also, this upcoming issue happens to be Canna’s one-year anniversary issue. I wonder if there will be any celebration surrounding it… Being the loser I am, though, I mostly just noticed two names: a full-length story from Ootsuki Miu and a short from Kojima Lalako. Looking forward to it.
♔ → I know a lot of people are big fans of her’s—volume three of of Hidaka Shouko’s Yuuutsu na Asa comes out in May.
Warning: this is a book of sex positions. Obviously, it is not for those who are underage or those who frown on sexual content.
When I first heard of this book I had no idea what the hell it was. I only vaguely looked at the website and it just seemed like another BL artbook which sounded pretty interesting in itself but I wasn’t sure it was worth the bigger-than-usual price. So I was thinking “ehhh I’ll wait for it to be released and look at the reviews and then maybe I’ll buy it.” But then I saw Aniya Yuiji’s name in the lineup and it’s all history after that.
But I’m very glad I bought it. I mean, how else was I supposed to ever figure out the names of all these sex positions??
