I know it feels kind of quick to mention February releases when a majority of the books for this month haven’t even come out yet but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to talk about them a bit.
⇔ As is the case every year it’s been released so far, a new volume of Saiyaku wa Boku wo Suki Sugiru will come out February 25th! tbh I only finally checked this series out recently but I’m kind of hooked. Does anyone know if this will be the last volume, or is it still ongoing?
⇔ Volume two of Takaguchi Satosumi’s Hone made Aishite! This caught me off-guard because I actually first read this story when it just started and I was still buying Chara Selection to keep up with that Sasaki Kumiko story, K no Kouzu, which has since been discontinued sob. I’m obviously pretty behind on this one (like going on four years behind) but I’m excited to hopefully pick it up again in the future!
⇔ New Rutile release for Mochimeko, Houjun na Gohoubi! It feels like it’s been forever since I last read something new by her.
⇔ Another book by Uchida Tsuchi, Bokura ga Koi wo Suru ni wa, through B’s-Lovely comics so I assume this will be a collection of all the stuff she ran in Ricottia. I’m so happy for her that her career in BL seems to have taken off quite nicely wahhh. ;; She’s one of the very very first random artists I bought when I initially started buying BL regularly, and it was her just-released debut. So I have a weird proud-mama feeling whenever I see her around.
⇔ Also through B’s-Lovely, a new release from Akahoshi Jake! You can tell I’m pretty damn behind on what the anthologies and magazines I’m not following have been running because I sincerely had no idea Akahoshi Jake was in anything other than drap. But I’m pretty pumped to read more from her, considering how wonderfully perverted her stuff is.
⇔ Through Gateau, finally after what feels like two years of waiting Amemori Gigi is getting a compiled release. Titled Crystal Palace, the book comes out on the 15th. Now I just get to wonder how long it’ll be before the stories she ran in drap are released in any fashion…
⇔ Koshino has a new book coming out through BexBoy less than a month from now, Michi to no Souguu. I haven’t been so into Koshino lately but I’m sure it’ll be great.
⇔ Also through BexBoy, Yoneda Kou’s NightS will be released on the 9th. Once again I’m not a huge fan of Yoneda Kou but I haven’t read anything from NightS so maybe I’ll like it? Then again I just went and read it was a yakuza story so maybe not… We’ll have to see I guess.
⇔ Through Asuka CL-DX Kinoshita Keiko has a new book Koi wa Sodatte Ai ni Naru coming out on the first. Moderately excited because even though I really like Kinoshita’s stories for some reason she hasn’t really broken into my life of favorite authors yet?? It’s kind of weird. But I shall keep an eye on this one because she has definitely released some stuff I really really love.
⇔ Of course, the one I’m most pumped about is Kumota Haruko’s Itoshi no Nekokke volume three (their high school years) which is also released February first. As much as I was skeptical about the timeline shift to their high school days I ended up really loving it and of course I am giddy to see what the extras for the book will have to offer. And the cover illustration! Has a teaser or anything been released yet? I’m kind of behind on following her twitter. orz;;
⇔ And let’s not forget Kojima Lalako’s Yume Yume Shinjuu. Admittedly not personally pumped about this one because I buy HertZ regularly and it’s kind of… a depressing story….. orz But I have been wanting to read the whole thing in full recently so this is definitely my chance!
One last one I want to mention as kind of a side note is that Chill Chill has another release for Rutile listed for February 23: Kyuugou’s Bokura wa Sore wo Hitei Dekinai. Initially I was really confused because Acid Town is running in Rutile, not this random title, and a new volume of Acid Town was just released not too long ago iirc. But after a Google search this popped up?? So maybe it’s something she had running in Rutile Sweet on the side? idk. I would be pretty excited if it’s true, because her Craft story is too depressing so I’ve dropped it until it’s complete and I still need to give Acid Town another chance (unfortunately I got too attached to the wrong couple and thus had to drop it until my palate was cleansed enough for me to digest the way the pairing was actually going to end up) so even though I absolutely adore Kyuugou I haven’t really been able to read anything by her lately. So if she has another book full of other random stories I would be stoked. Unfortunately though I can’t find any news on Rutile’s site and there isn’t a pre-order page on Amazon so I’m not going to hold my breath on this one. Here’s to hoping, though, because the first chapter was really cute and I’d love more of this fluffy, sexy Kyuugou work I’ve been missing.
my bl order for December came today! \o/ Well most of it because I also impatiently tossed Kojima Lalako and Tomoe Fumi’s January releases in my cart. But everything that was actually released in December is here so I figured I would do an ~unboxing~ first impressions post since I haven’t read any of them yet and it would at least give you a chance to see what I got in case I go AWOL again this month.
was feeling pretty antisocial and hermit-y today and didn’t feel like showering the second I got up so I put up a little note to let them know they could just leave the package. For a nice long time the DHL people knew to just leave it but idk I think the dude who used to deliver my stuff either got a new route or quit and this new person isn’t so fast on the uptake so he always knocks and waits for my signature s o b.
BUT HEY here is my precious unnecessarily large box full of cheesy homoerotic romance so let’s get to this unboxing now shall we.
So as I said, part one of my purchase came in the mail today and I haven’t really even started looking through many of them yet but I nonetheless wanted to talk a bit (or maybe a lot idk) about a specific book I bought because I think there’s a bit of a misunderstanding of what the book is. And that book would be the recently-released Light BL e Youkoso which a lot of people seem to be thinking is an anthology of light, sweet BL stories but actually it’s a guidebook.
As you can see the cover is by Kumota Haruko so its garnered a lot of fanfair. And it’s a really good book, albeit not what a lot of people are probably expecting, so I will try to go over what this book has to offer if not actual comics.
I went to check if my copy of Kumonosuke’s latest book had shipped yet (I don’t know why I bother considering it’s not even released yet….) and the cover was finally posted and it’s seriously just gorgeous so I wanted to share it here!
So pretty. ;A;) I just love the colors and the posturing and the shading and just sd;lgjs;ggd AHH KUMONOSUKE!! Which reminds me… I still haven’t talked about her book released last month…….
In other news, while I was going through my mail I saw that Chill Chill released the names and ranking of their 2011 BL awards! Koshino’s Samejima-kun so Sasahara-kun got first place—not surprising at all, consider it’s such a great book and made a pretty huge splash in fandom! Some other ones that made me happy were Castle Mango at number three, and Akiyama-kun at number ten. Though I personally think Akiyama-kun deserved a higher ranking… :T /bitter
As for artists, Hidaka Shouko won as best artist of the year with Koshino at a close second! Ogura Muku won number 4, which made me happy. I’m glad 2011 seems to have been such a great year for her. ;w;) My precious. Artists like Est Em, Watanabe Asia, Nakamura Asumiko, Minazuki Akira, etc. also got special mention. Then onto winners for best ‘new’ artists: Hideyoshico!!! Uwaaa! \(;w;)/ Hooray for her! It’s so great to see how much her works have caught on. And then I got super excited because Nobara Aiko got second place and I am just d;lgjsd;gs Nobara Aiko is so wonderful. ;; Why does no one understand whyyyy.
Speaking of Nobara Aiko, onBLUE volume five comes out ion just a few short weeks! Please please please let the latest chapter have something a little happier in store. ;A;) Also, I can’t wait to see who the next interview subject is!
sorry about my general absence lately. Things have been stressful so I haven’t been reading much BL.
♔ → The cover for the novel Ootsuki Miu illustrated, Nagareboshi Furu Koi ga Furu, has been posted. Actually, it was posted a while ago. A quite sexy cover illustration, as expected of Ootsuki Miu!
I’m pretty excited, since it’s finally the official release of this book. Actually, I’ve been watching to read it ever since people started posting that illustration up all over the place. *w*
♔ → Yoneda Kou is coming back in HertZ in the next issue!
Frankly, I’m quite surprised she’ll be in HertZ instead of Craft, since that was originally the line she ran under. Does this mean a whole new story instead of a continuation of the ones she left off on?
♔ → Speaking of HertZ, on the HertZ line webpage a bunch of the POP illustrations for upcoming releases have been added for Moto Haruhira, Komizu Kiyo and Natsumizu Ritsu. They’re all very cute so I recommend checking them out if you like those artists.
♔ → LYNX’s site has been updated for the latest issue! The cover is super cute. *w* I’m pretty excited to get this one in the mail since it’s the continuation of a lot of the stories I liked in the last volume, plus it has some of my favorite mangaka. Though… sadly, after looking at the line-up for the next volume, I’m not really super excited for that one. orz;; It only has six or so mangaka listed that I really really love. But at least there are quite a few mangaka that I’ve never heard of. I guess we’ll just have to see.
Also, if you click LYNX’s site, you can see a preview for Suisei Summit by Akiyama Koito! There’s a sex scene, which surprised me since I was always under the impression they try to keep dirty-type stuff out off online previews. Maybe I’ve just been reading too much Rutile Sweet.
♔ → The Hanaoto releases for August were announced and they include a book by Chiba Ryouko!! I’m pretty happy since it feels like it’s been a long time since I was last able to read something new by her. Anyway, it will come out August 29th.
♔ → And finally, the cover to Komeri’s debut tankoubon Itoshi no Koishi no has been posted to Tokyo Mangasha’s site! Very cute, with lots of sweet, gentle colors. Also included is the cover of Cab, which is by Terashima this month and is very pink.
Then, as you can see in the information section, a drama CD for Koshino’s Samejime-kun to Sasahara-kun will be released.
I exist! I’ve just been really lazy. orz And for some reason instead of just reading one anthology all the way through before moving on to the next one, I’ve been reading a story here and there from each before putting the book aside to move onto something else. I kind of suck, sorry.
But anyway, here’s the thirteenth volume of Cab! The book that starts Cab’s third year in existence, and also supposedly the final book that will not have Castle Mango before the story is finalized. I quite liked the stories in this volume, though I think my level of understanding wasn’t the best. Oops. ;w;
