the funny thing is last night I was considering announcing an official hiatus but it seems like every time I’m like “huh I should really make an announcement on that blog saying I won’t be posting so no one thinks I died…” I suddenly feel like posting again. Works like a charm every time. Maybe I should just chant that every day when I wake up and I’ll actually be productive.
anyway, I wanted to post today because last night (or yesterday morning?? idk) Rutile finally posted the high-quality covers for their March releases and their March releases are kind of amazing so I figured I would share them here.
I talked about the HQ covers and then posted small ones but just click the photos and they’ll bring you to the amazon page!
I made my order this morning and I am super pumped for all three of these. Kyuugou’s I’ve already talked about at length so I’ll spare you, but finally I get to read the ending of Haikei Niisan-sama. Wonderful glorious brotherly love stories ohhhhh yes. *w*) The last chapter I got to read was when they were making out over the candy apple (and then I laughed in the face of everyone who was obnoxiously shouting about how they had a platonic relationship and it wasn’t even BL) so I am definitely ready for more. Though it isn’t like a Rutile release will deliver on the smut but I get my kicks where I can take them.
as for Miike Romuco, well… what’s not to like about Miike Romuco? I just generally always look forward to stuff by her, since I really love her art and her characters and her stories. Just everything about her, really.
speaking of Rutile, I’m hoping so hard for a Hirakita Yuya book in the near future. ;; I am legit going through withdrawals lately—it’s been way too long since I last got to read something from her. I don’t care where it’s published—dear+, Chocolat, Rutile, Chara, whatever. As long as I get a new book by her in my hands as soon as possible. orz
also speaking of Rutile I wonder when the last time Jaryuu Dokuro published a chapter of BxP Anx was. Because even though she’s constantly scheduled, she never seems to be in the damn thing once it’s released. Please, Jaryuu Dokuro, pleeeeeease don’t discontinue that story. I love it too much for it to never properly end.
ANYWAY this is getting a little too wordy. Maybe I’ll do a post later tonight or tomorrow or perhaps this weekend on what I’ve been up to and miscellaneous BL-related stuff.
well that didn’t last long. But hey, here’s something I can talk about without the necessity of a camera: books that are coming out soon.
♔ → first off, as many of you likely know Ootsuki Miu will be releasing a new book later this month through Daria called Ijiwaru na Hito. As if the fact that it’s Ootsuki Miu and the title that hints at adorable love-love bullying didn’t already leave you impatient for the book to be in your hands now, Daria has since posted a preview! It looks ridiculously cute and I can’t wait to get the book so I can actually read it. ;; Unfortunately, I have yet to find a cover illustration.
♔ → Shockingly, Uchida Tsuchi already has a new book lined up through Hanaoto for late April! It feels like just last month that she released her second book, Barairo Melancholy, and yet it’s already time for book number three! I really can’t say how glad I am that she’s not turning out to be one of those BL artists who releases one cute book and then disappears off that map. That happens all too often in the BL genre and it makes me super sad.
♔ → Then through Dear+, Miike Romuco has a March release. The world can really never have too much Miike Romuco.
♔ → One I’m personally reaaaaaaally excited for is volume two of Sakura Sakuya’s Oinarisama no Honey Bunny for release in late March. Even though I initially side-eyed the series after I finally gave it a chance I got pretty hooked. orz;;; I really can’t help it—Sakura Sakuya’s sense of humor and sex appeal are both ace!
♔ → Another Chara release, the final volume of Nanahikari is coming out in late March as well! It’s kind of weird to see this one end, because it’s one of the few series I got into fairly early on and then saw through to the finish. I really thought this one would never end. I’m kind of nervous to know who Hikaru ends up with! /o\ I wonder if I should buy it and take the chance.
♔ → basso has a new book, Naka-san no Nagare, coming out through Edge Comix on March 24th! This one caught me by surprise since iirc basso hasn’t even been in opera for a while now?? Perhaps it’s stuff that ran between all of her related series… Or maybe stuff that was originally published as doujinshi? I guess we’ll just have to see!
♔ → The HertZ/Craft releases are looking pretty glorious! For HertZ it’s SHOOWA in early March followed by Towa on the 22nd. If you go here and check it out SHOOWA’s release already has a cover and Towa’s POP is really cute. (You can also see Kano Shiuko’s and Yamamoto Kotetsuko’s covers now!) Then CRAFT’s release for late March is Okuyama Puku! Her POP is also adorable, and you can view it here.
♔ → Another one of my personal favorites, Koiwazurai Shibito, has a book coming out through Aqua in mid-March! The title definitely leaves me a bit curious: Wakaresaseya no Koi. Koiwazurai’s art and stories have yet to disappoint me so I’ll definitely be picking this book up.
♔ → Perhaps saving the best for last, a book I know many other people will also be excited to hear about: Junko’s annual Gush release has been placed for March 10th, Kasa no Shita, Futari! I’ve only gotten to see the Chinese scans for this one, unfortunately, so I don’t even know what it’s about aside from that there’s a teacher and three guys and sex. Though there seems to be less cute sexiness than Junko’s previous stories, I’m still pretty damn excited!
Hi! Remember me? I’m that person who used to update this blog almost daily. Actually, I just recently got a new job so I haven’t really had much time to read manga at length or compile BL news, and I probably won’t for the next couples weeks while I get situated and used to having a fuller schedule. But I figured I would do a ‘free talk’ post, where I can just ramble about BL manga in a less-structured format for a while.
Actually, I have currently started five different books from the huge set I just got. I have a bad habit of doing that—slowly reading a bunch of books at once instead of just one at a time. Obviously this means I have less to talk about on a day-to-day basis. I started Kumonosuke’s Kimi ni Sosogu, which I really like so far. It’s about two college students, one of which is a complete scholar and the other who is… well… the type of student who thinks college is less about education and more about meeting people and partying. They’re total opposites, which is what draws playboy Ooshima to studious Andou in the first place. But there’s plenty of stuff ready to get in the way of their blooming romance, such as Andou’s beautiful bro-con younger sister, Andou’s horrible awkwardness when it comes to human interaction, and Ooshima’s bad reputation for never being serious about his relationships.
The other ones I’m reading are more ‘fluff’ or I haven’t read them far enough to get really involved yet. I read the first chapter of Hideyoshico’s Negative-kun to Positive-kun, and it’s very cute and light so far! I also read the first couple chapters of Aiba Kyouko’s debut comic, Kimi ni wa Ienai Ori no Nayami. Very cute and fluffy and easy to read since they’re all just short stories. Aside from that I’ve been making my way through the second volume of Yamamoto Kotetsuko’s Lucky Number 13 and Hayakawa Nojiko’s Endou-kun no Kansatsu Nikki. Maybe one of these days I’ll actually finish one and be able to review it on here. orz;;;;
The cover for Ootsuki Miu’s Familiar was posted! It’s really cute—as expected of Ootsuki Miu. I’m both excited and not excited about this release, since I’ve read a majority of it already in the magazine. At least since it’s a limited edition it’ll probably be released with an extra booklet like Ouji Hiroimashita. Preferably an extra booklet that is just smut. (As you can see, I have priorities.) I really wish Ootsuki’s stories through other publishers would get released. I’ve been dying to read her stories through Asuka and Libre and Gush, and now she’s also publishing in Karen and Dear+. She’s such a hard mangaka to track unless you’re rich and pay insanely close attention to magazine and anthology releases.
Another cover that’s really exciting/cute is Miike Romuco’s Yuugure no Machi. Ahhh so excited to read that one—you really can’t go wrong with Miike Romuco. Also, Nimoda Ai’s Moe Goe will be released in December! I’m not even a fan of seiyuu culture and I thought it was really cute, so if you’re interested in stuff like voice acting then I recommend it. It’s about the relationship between a voice actor and the mangaka who created the BL story the actor will be performing, and the mangaka tries to ‘help’ the voice actor get more comfortable about his role by teaching him first-hand about gay sex. Nimoda Ai’s art is really really cute and I love the H scenes in that story.
One comic that I wish would be released but probably shouldn’t hold my breath for is Junko’s Kasa no Shita, Futari. The first chapter has been shared in Chinese only so I couldn’t even really read it (but still caved and downloaded it because, well, it’s Junko man there’s no way I could pass it up) and then I haven’t been able to find a single scanned chapter since. orz;; AHHH I REALLY CAN’T AFFORD ANOTHER MONTHLY MAGAZINE but Gush is just so tempting all the time because it has Junko. Junkooooo.
Anyway, I think that’s enough free talk for one night! Sorry I couldn’t make a more interesting, cohesive blog post! Hopefully I will finish one of the many books I’ve started soon and will be able to toss together a review, or maybe I’ll finally get started on that Spotlight post I’ve been meaning to do since forever, idk. Decisions! Sorry if I’m not able to post much over the next month, though. I’ll try my best!
→ Actually I was considering putting this blog on hiatus since I’m currently going through some really stressful stuff in my personal life and, as fun as this blog is to run, sometimes posting here feels tedious and stressful. But I don’t really want to put it on hiatus, just in case I read something that makes me so passionate that posting about it is very simple and fun. But I just wanted to let you all know that even though I’m not posting as much and it takes forever for me to reply to comments, I am still around and I still answer my emails (slowly) and formspring questions (somewhat less slowly) so if you ever need to contact me with a question then you need not hesitate.
→ Anyway, official blurb aside I just have a couple small things I want to talk about! First, Kobato Mebaru has the cover of F-Book Comics’ second BiQ anthology!
I think it’s really cute, and just in general it’s nice to see something from her again even if it’s just a anthology cover. I’ve been trying to keep up with her shoujo title that runs in Sylph, but that still doesn’t feel like enough haha.
→ Then there’s also Gateau’s latest covers by Koiwazurai Shibito and Kumonosuke.
To be honest, after reading Shiawase ni Naru no sa! I have become a bit obsessed with Kumonosuke. Yesterday volumes three and four of Gateau arrived and she had a story in there and I pretty much shrieked in excitement and accidentally slammed the book shut when I saw her art haha. I totally did not budget for this new-found love-affair oops. So now if I want her new book I’ll have to slip a different one out of my order. And I should probably look into purchasing her debut tankoubon as well. orz
→ drap’s upcoming releases are pretty exciting. I know a lot of you have been asking me fairly often about when Ootsuki Miu’s Familiar will be released, so I’m happy to let you know that it’s scheduled for early November. Like with Ouji Hiroimashita, it’s going to have a special-addition first printing. (Perhaps it will also come with a nice booklet of gratuitous sex scenes!) In late October drap will be releasing Yukimura’s Honto no Tokoro, and also Yoshizuka Mayako’s debut in early October. And of course, Chidori Peko’s tankoubon is still scheduled for late September. Lots to look forward to from them!
→ Also release news, through Hanaoto Miike Romuko will be releasing a book in late October. I’ve been excitedly waiting for a new book by her so I’ll have to try and be patient.
→ Finally, the next issue of Dear+ is very tempting! Miike Romuko, Ootsuki Miu and a color page by Yamanaka Hiko. Speaking of releases I’ve been wishing on for quite a long time now, I hope Yamanaka Hiko releases something new soon. My life feels so empty without being able to read anything new from her. Oh well, I guess at least I have her wonderful story in onBLUE.
Yesterday I finally got the second half of the BL purchase for December and it’s pretty much brilliant—all of the magazines I had been most looking forward to in one small shipment. I am absolutely in love with all of them. But for now I’ll just leave you with a small-ish post since life is (obviously) kind of hectic at the moment.
Baby for Aniya Yuiji, onBLUE for Yamanaka Hiko and Kumota Haruko, drap for Ootsuki Miu, Citron for Aniya Yuiji and Kumota Haruko. :9 And then, of course, the second and final volume of Yamanaka Hiko’s End Game. A brilliant set.
For this one, straight-up, warning for R-18 content. The Baby anthology is actually quite filthy.
I got part one of my monthly purchase freakishly early this month. I thought it was going to take longer (like, midway into November) since Kuragehime was supposedly out of stock until they could reorder in a couple weeks, but before I knew it I was getting a shipping notification. Not that I’m complaining. :9
Please ignore the Two-Face—I was getting my inner cat lady on while I was looking through my BL manga since that is the supposed fate of all fujoshi.
Some random news/information.
→ This month’s Hanaoto cover was posted a while back. Of course, it’s Sakuraga Mei; she’s to Hanaoto what Kano Shiuko is to BOY’S Pierce. Some other artists in that issue that excite me are Katou Setsuko, Uchida Tsuchi and Miike Romuko. It’s nice to see Uchida Tsuchi still going. I keep checking Hanaoto’s magazines for Kuroyama Mekki as well but no dice. /o\
→ Dear+ also just recently updated their website and posted the cover up on Amazon with a lovely illustration by Ougi Yuzuha. Kobato Mebaru is back! /o/ I am pleased! Also in this issue is Kusama Sakae, making it incredibly tempting to slip this in my cart as my first ever purchase of Dear+. There’s also supposedly a new Kinoshita Keiko story starting up, which gets a color insert.
Speaking of Kinoshita Keiko and Dear+, they have also already revealed all of the covers for their upcoming tankoubon releases. Kinoshita Keiko’s Don’t Cry Baby can be found here, and another one I found quite cute was Hirakita Yuya’s Miracle da toka Koi da toka. Even the title makes it sound super fluffy.
Anyway, the July issue of Dear+ will have Taumi Mayu, Kobato Mebaru, Yamanaka Hiko, Ninomiya Etsumi and Kinoshita Keiko, as well as Monchi Kaori? Look forward to it! /o/
→ Aniya Yuiji is in the latest issue of Wings. 8( /RESISTS
→ One last magazine I want to mention is the recent release of June’s BOY’S LOVE. Which, like most things released from June, is supposedly just crazy porn. But there is Psyche Delico. PSYCHE DELICO!! If you go to the site and click on the little image icon by her name you can see a sample image from the manga. There’s also supposedly an illustration or something by Ootsuki Miu. Which sounds delicious.
→ As if constantly perusing Amazon!JP and visiting publisher websites wasn’t already bad enough, I just recently picked up the horrible habit of checking the preview sections for previews of somewhat-recently released manga. As if I didn’t already buy enough random crap based off the covers, now my wishlist has grown in size again due to getting to read snippets of the inside story.
