Because I tend to get a lot of the same questions via email or formspring or in comments (which doesn’t necessarily bother me, really) I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make something like this.
If you have a question, always feel free to leave it in the comments or send it to me in an email or leave me something on my formspring. I’m not just being polite when I say I don’t mind answer peoples’ questions.
Is is okay if I follow you on any other sites/messengers?
Of course! I love making new friends more than pretty much anything else, so you don’t have to be shy. However, don’t add me on livejournal just because you want faster access to scans and information. I don’t post that kind of stuff to my personal journal—all I do in my personal journal that I don’t do here is flail about random things I read. Besides, I post here faster than I do on there anyway.
But yes, the reason I post other contact information is because I’m giving you the green light to talk to me elsewhere if you ever feel the need.
Can I repost your scans or use them for scanlations/graphics?
For graphics, you don’t even have to ask. I really don’t care. However, for scanlations please ask me first. You can contact me via comments here or at one of the email addresses listed above. As for reposting, you can ask permission but I’d really rather you not even bother unless it’s a life-or-death situation where you just need those scans posted somewhere else.
Will you scan ____________ for me?
Unless we are good friends or you are from a scanlation group and need a chapter from a magazine I have, don’t ask this. It’s actually kind of rude and annoying. Scanning something and cleaning scans in a lot of time and effort and as much as I love sharing BL manga with people, I do have a life outside of this blog. (And an unbelievably short attention span.) I’m fine with doing favors for scanlation groups because they’re giving something back in return for my effort, but scanning something I don’t want to scan just so other people can look at it isn’t something I’m too keen on. If you want to read the story that bad, buy the book/magazine yourself.
Do you live in Japan?
Nope. I live in Minnesota in the United States.
How much BL manga do you buy monthly?
As much as I can afford/catches my interest. Plus I have a huge back-up of manga I’ve read and now want to own, and manga I want to read that probably will never be scanned or translated. I’m a firm believer in the idea that if you like a manga you should support the artist and buy it, so there’s an endless supply of things on my wishlist.
Why do you buy so many magazines instead of waiting for the tankoubon?
Magazines are the best way to learn about the existence of new artists, and I’m a whore for new information. Yeah, sometimes the magazines are a waste of money because they don’t have anything that really catches my interest, but I’m really quite open-minded when it comes to BL manga so that only happens very rarely. Usually I like more than half the artists and stories so the anthologies and magazines are a pleasure to buy and read.
Where can I buy BL manga?
I have a useful link for that here, actually.
Are you going to finish your Starry Sky ~In Winter~ playthrough posts?
Very unlikely. Probably not. My interest in Starry Sky comes and goes and usually isn’t around long enough for me to finish the games.
Why don’t you ever talk about [insert manga/ka here]?
Probably because I don’t like that manga or mangaka. I try to not talk about manga and mangaka I dislike on this blog (aside from the super-rare opinion posts) because I don’t want to give this space a particularly negative tone. It’s just generally more fun and interesting to me to talk about mangaka I personally like. I’d rather not report news on mangaka I don’t like. Lucky for most people (people that are not me), the ones I don’t like are generally the super-popular ones that are already everywhere! WOO HOO! So news for them should be easy to find even without me posting it.
What are your favorite BL manga?
