my order for July finally came wahhhhh. I had a lot of drama over this order, because part of me wanted to buy through Honto again (for the cheaper shipping) but Honto doesn’t stock Boy’s Pierce and there was no way in hell I was going to not buy Boy’s Pierce this month because I needed (NEEDED!!!) to know if Kou-chan was going to cheat on Kishi. It was of utmost importance. And then I really really wanted Toshishita Kareshi no Renai Kanriguse but uh… evidently every other fujoshi in Japan also wanted that book because it’s been backstocked for rerelease on August 12th. So much for that. Then Kevin Komine’s book went out of stock. So. I had to cancel and redo and rethink this order about a million times. Life is so hard for this unfortunate little fujoshi.
but it’s here now (except one book that should come tomorrow) so–! We can rejoice!
first off can we just laugh at how ridiculously and unnecessarily large BexBoy GOLD is? This is my first time buying it, and I already knew it was bigger than most, but THAT BIG? Really? I’m already running hilariously low on space to store and display all my books ahhhh.
holy shit, wordpress changed so much crap while I was on hiatus so this feels really weird. But let’s get on with it, shall we. How are you all? It’s been a while! Like, more than four months to be exact. Feels kind of good to be back.
Anyway in late June Erotoro 2 was released and, obviously, I bought it! And since I’ve become slightly more of a busy girl (if you couldn’t tell considering I keep disappearing for long periods of time) I just tonight finally got around to reading it and I figured it wouldn’t kill me to blog about it a bit so.
Aniya Yuiji did the cover again so like I could possibly resist. To be honest, as far as ero anthologies go the original Erotoro didn’t do much for me—I even recall recommending a few times for people to seek out your average issue of Boy’s Pierce instead of Erotoro if you’re looking to get your kicks. So part of me was like “ehhh I don’t know” when I heard there would be another volume released. But then Aniya Yuiji was on the cover so. Now you know: if you ever want me to buy something, just put Aniya Yuiji’s name on it.
SUPER SUPER R-18 BELOW THE CUT if you click while you’re at work then it’s your own issue. Don’t come crying to me.
for the week of September 30, 2012!
I figured I would start doing something like this because sometimes I want to review things but then I psyche myself up too much and suddenly it starts sounding like a scary chore, and other times I read something and I moderately enjoy it and maybe kind of want to talk about it idk but not enough to write a review—but more than a ‘quickie’ review would allow. So to make it easier to properly talk about the books I read, at the end of every week I will talk about the stuff I happened to read that week and what I liked about it and what I didn’t like and hopefully I’ll be able to talk about more BL this way without freaking myself out.
Anyway, without further ado!
Psyche Delico | EroMan ~Kami to Pen to Sex to!!~
I was pretty excited about this one, as most people who read my blog know. And while I didn’t love it nearly as much as Junai Eroki it nonetheless didn’t disappoint. In all, this book has four stories: two are related, one is a oneshot chapter, and there’s another that’s quite old. The title story is about two comic artists who’re thinking of taking it to the next level with an H doujinshi, but the artist of the duo doesn’t have any experience in sex since he’s uncomfortable around women. Thus ensues a perverted relationship between the writer and artist. Part romantic relationship, part filthy sexual fantasy, 100% perfect porn. With some comedy, too, considering while they’re doing anal foreplay with a pen the cap gets lost somewhere in his ass. Oops!
know what stupid thing I did yesterday? I put in my monthly order, and forgot to buy Ootsuki Miu’s book. orz;; And by the time I noticed (which was really only an hour later) they were already prepping some of my books for shipment so I couldn’t cancel and reorder ahhhh. How could I forget one of my most beloved artists. Just… cries. I guess I’ll have to buy her book specially through somewhere else with cheaper (slower) shipping.
but let’s not let that get us down since two really great things were posted today!
Kojima Lalako’s and Psyche Delico’s covers for their upcoming releases! Kojima’s is still quite a ways away, to be released October 10th with BexBoy’s other books for next month. Personally, I really love her cover—it’s so charming and colorful and the character designs look so cute ahhh. For those who buy books published under BexBoy lines, do you read Kojima’s stories that run in them? What should I expect from this book? It looks adorable so I’m super excited.
as for Psyche Delico’s, I must approach that one with a bit of detachment. I loved Junai Eroki so much that I worry this one will pale a bit in comparison. But Psyche Delico’s smut is always super high quality and the character design from the cover are adorable. Admittedly I’m hoping this one contains some multi-chapter stories instead of all oneshots, but really beggars can’t be choosers and I’ll take what I can get! Also posted was Aiba Kyouko’s Junet release for this month and even though I’m not as excited as with Psyche’s I’m nonetheless pretty pumped since Aiba Kyouko was in the very first issue of Pierce I ever bought so finally the story I read by her 4+ years ago will be compiled!
also a little extra eye candy, I found this yesterday when I was compiling my order and of course had to toss it into my cart instantly since the cover is so ridiculously cute and I find the art style incredibly appealing.
by motteke, released through Baby. Baby Comics always come as a surprise to me since they never update their site until after the fact. orz So this book will hopefully be a nice treat filled with stories I’ve never read before. I don’t recall having ever heard of motteke previously, so fingers crossed that this will be a wonderful new discovery to add to my list of much-loved mangaka!
…actually I just now went to Baby’s site to see if they finally did add info on their books for this month (here is Nobara Aiko’s—eee something related to Akiyama-kun!) and the first thing it says in the description is “兄ちゃん大好き！！！” so. This definitely seems like a book that’s up my alley. Even more excited for it to arrive in Friday now!!
ack I meant to do this review over a month ago but I’m just getting around to it now, sorry. orz;; My story for this particular book is that while it was released in June, I didn’t even know of its existence until my sister found it on Amazon and was like “what’s with all these ’48’-themed BL anthologies??” Unfortunately at that point I couldn’t buy it until after Japan because it was past my final pre-trip order, and while I put it in my wishlist I promptly forgot about it. However, while wandering the Akihabara Toranoana on vacation I stumbled across it on display and they had it so you could look through a bunch of sample pages and it was so wonderfully porn-y and barely censored that there was no way I could resist and I bought it on the spot.
Which means obviously the sample pages I’m posting photos of are very much NSFW. Don’t blame me if you look through them at the office and get a porn intervention from the boss.
One of my favorite sites is back from hiatus and brought with it some really great BL release news so I figured I’d share some of the ones I’m particularly excited about.
♔ → First, Chara’s July 25th releases!
Kojima Lalako “Ano Ko to Juliet”
Kitazawa Kyou “101ban wa Uke Tsukemasen!”
Hidaka Shouko “Yuuutsu na Asa” vol.4
Obviously, I’m sure you all know the one I have my eye on most: Kojima Lalako! It has officially been over a year since her initial 3-in-a-row releases and even though I get a taste of her work in magazines and anthologies every now and then it’s just not enough. I don’t think I’ve read many of her Chara releases so I can’t wait to get my hands on her book through them. Unfortunately I’ll have to either track it down while I’m on vacation or wait until late August, but I have my fingers crossed for an in-store pick-up! *A*)
♔ → Then Asuka’s late June releases list Takatsuki Noboru. It feels like forever since I’ve read something by her (him?? idk who cares) so I’ll definitely be tempted to pick that one up. The title is “Ore no Kokoro ni Fumikomu na!”
♔ → Craft then has a new Yamamoto Kotetsuko book lined up for early July, titled “Fukurou-kun to Kare”. Yamamoto’s books are never a miss for me personally, and I don’t think I’ve seen/read a single chapter of this one. Distressing! I guess I’ll have to shove it into my June order so I don’t have to wait forever to read it haha.
♔ → Psyche Delico then has a new book coming out through Citron. This one isn’t quite as exciting for me personally (since I buy Citron and thus already read a majority of the stories I’m sure) but I’ll definitely be buying it nonetheless just because it’s Psyche Delico. When I saw her name on the list I had my fingers crossed for a new book through Junet, but alas! Her Citron stories are good too so I hope everyone will still consider giving them a chance.
♔ → One I’m super super suuuuuuper pumped about is Mita Ori, who has a book “Shiro no Koro” through Marble in late July. I don’t know if you ladies recall, but she’s the author of one of my very favorite BL oneshots Mahou no Okusuri. Now that she’s officially releasing a book I hope more and more people will be able to read her stories, which are all very charming and go wonderfully with her sketchy art style. I highly recommend it!
♔ → Not as exciting for me personally since I’m not into doujinshi collections, but for hardcore Minazuki Akira fans there’s a new book to look out for: her doujinshi work will be compiled and released by Poe Backs/Fusion Comics in late July!
♔ → Moto Haruhira has a new book coming out through drap, “Mazu wa, Hitokuchi”, in late July as well. tbh I haven’t really been reading this one so closely in drap (sometimes it’s so annoying to keep up with series in magazines, unfortunately… orz;;) so I’ll probably be buying this. Her art is so cute and I don’t want to skip something that could potentially be really great but I haven’t given a proper chance to.
♔ → Finally, finally, Shinomiya Shino’s book through EDGE will be released on July 27th. Titled “The way I am”, it seems like such a charming story but since I don’t buy OPERA regularly I’ve missed so many chapters. I’m hoping after this, Aniya’s book will also be coming out soon. It does seem to have hit the climax…
♔ → Another one that feels like it’s been making me wait for a very very long time, Koiwazurai Shibito’s book through Junet will finally be released this coming June! In the few magazines I bought that had her, she seemed to have a penchant for writing perverted semi-depressing stories, which are my favorites. (see: Aniya’s Kangoku 69) So I would like to see them in full. ;; Finally, here’s my chance! Speaking of Junet, I wonder if they’re ever release Yonekura Kengo’s story sighhh.
♔ → And then the final one I wanted to talk about: drap already has their releases through November planned! Once again, Ootsuki Miu is their late-in-the-year pick and supposedly the compiled version of Vanilla Resort will be released November 2nd. Considering the official series is just starting (and there are so far only two chapters) that’s really planning ahead! But I guess that means there’s a lot of Ootsuki to expect in the coming months from drap? Other releases include Nekota Yonezou in August, and an amazing quadruple-whammy of Akahoshi Jake (yay!!), Yamada Maya, Hino Garasu and Konjiki Runa all in September. Thank goodness that’s an odd-numbered, non-anthology month!
Finally! I finally finished the whole book! orz;;; Well. Kind of, since there are some stories I didn’t read super closely. But I at least got a good idea of what all the stories were about so now I can post small summaries here and help all of you decide if you want to buy the book or not. Personally, I love it—initially I had my doubts, thought that even though I LOVE the Moe Danshi Gatari series that doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll really like this as well, but even though I don’t absolutely adore all the stories the book as a whole is fantastic and was well worth the money.
Anyway let’s take a look inside! Vague warning for R-18 content though this book is, for the most part, mostly clean and plot-driven.
