I know it feels kind of quick to mention February releases when a majority of the books for this month haven’t even come out yet but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to talk about them a bit.
⇔ As is the case every year it’s been released so far, a new volume of Saiyaku wa Boku wo Suki Sugiru will come out February 25th! tbh I only finally checked this series out recently but I’m kind of hooked. Does anyone know if this will be the last volume, or is it still ongoing?
⇔ Volume two of Takaguchi Satosumi’s Hone made Aishite! This caught me off-guard because I actually first read this story when it just started and I was still buying Chara Selection to keep up with that Sasaki Kumiko story, K no Kouzu, which has since been discontinued sob. I’m obviously pretty behind on this one (like going on four years behind) but I’m excited to hopefully pick it up again in the future!
⇔ New Rutile release for Mochimeko, Houjun na Gohoubi! It feels like it’s been forever since I last read something new by her.
⇔ Another book by Uchida Tsuchi, Bokura ga Koi wo Suru ni wa, through B’s-Lovely comics so I assume this will be a collection of all the stuff she ran in Ricottia. I’m so happy for her that her career in BL seems to have taken off quite nicely wahhh. ;; She’s one of the very very first random artists I bought when I initially started buying BL regularly, and it was her just-released debut. So I have a weird proud-mama feeling whenever I see her around.
⇔ Also through B’s-Lovely, a new release from Akahoshi Jake! You can tell I’m pretty damn behind on what the anthologies and magazines I’m not following have been running because I sincerely had no idea Akahoshi Jake was in anything other than drap. But I’m pretty pumped to read more from her, considering how wonderfully perverted her stuff is.
⇔ Through Gateau, finally after what feels like two years of waiting Amemori Gigi is getting a compiled release. Titled Crystal Palace, the book comes out on the 15th. Now I just get to wonder how long it’ll be before the stories she ran in drap are released in any fashion…
⇔ Koshino has a new book coming out through BexBoy less than a month from now, Michi to no Souguu. I haven’t been so into Koshino lately but I’m sure it’ll be great.
⇔ Also through BexBoy, Yoneda Kou’s NightS will be released on the 9th. Once again I’m not a huge fan of Yoneda Kou but I haven’t read anything from NightS so maybe I’ll like it? Then again I just went and read it was a yakuza story so maybe not… We’ll have to see I guess.
⇔ Through Asuka CL-DX Kinoshita Keiko has a new book Koi wa Sodatte Ai ni Naru coming out on the first. Moderately excited because even though I really like Kinoshita’s stories for some reason she hasn’t really broken into my life of favorite authors yet?? It’s kind of weird. But I shall keep an eye on this one because she has definitely released some stuff I really really love.
⇔ Of course, the one I’m most pumped about is Kumota Haruko’s Itoshi no Nekokke volume three (their high school years) which is also released February first. As much as I was skeptical about the timeline shift to their high school days I ended up really loving it and of course I am giddy to see what the extras for the book will have to offer. And the cover illustration! Has a teaser or anything been released yet? I’m kind of behind on following her twitter. orz;;
⇔ And let’s not forget Kojima Lalako’s Yume Yume Shinjuu. Admittedly not personally pumped about this one because I buy HertZ regularly and it’s kind of… a depressing story….. orz But I have been wanting to read the whole thing in full recently so this is definitely my chance!
One last one I want to mention as kind of a side note is that Chill Chill has another release for Rutile listed for February 23: Kyuugou’s Bokura wa Sore wo Hitei Dekinai. Initially I was really confused because Acid Town is running in Rutile, not this random title, and a new volume of Acid Town was just released not too long ago iirc. But after a Google search this popped up?? So maybe it’s something she had running in Rutile Sweet on the side? idk. I would be pretty excited if it’s true, because her Craft story is too depressing so I’ve dropped it until it’s complete and I still need to give Acid Town another chance (unfortunately I got too attached to the wrong couple and thus had to drop it until my palate was cleansed enough for me to digest the way the pairing was actually going to end up) so even though I absolutely adore Kyuugou I haven’t really been able to read anything by her lately. So if she has another book full of other random stories I would be stoked. Unfortunately though I can’t find any news on Rutile’s site and there isn’t a pre-order page on Amazon so I’m not going to hold my breath on this one. Here’s to hoping, though, because the first chapter was really cute and I’d love more of this fluffy, sexy Kyuugou work I’ve been missing.
♔ → for fans of Kinoshita Keiko, B’s-garden now has the POP images up for both her upcoming releases. I’m not as excited for Koyoi Omae to if only because I already read it regularly in HertZ, but I’m pretty pumped about the third and final volume of Ikusen no Yoru. Considering that cliffhanger volume two left off at. orz;;;
Also if you go to the B’s-garden main page you can see a larger version of Kusama Sakae’s novel illustration. *A*
♔ → LYNX has their previews up for the latest issue already! \o/ Minazuki Akira already has a new story running, which I’m pretty damn excited about df;ghd;fhdf also also Mio Junta and Rokuro Kuro’s color pages also look very beautiful. Another thing from this latest issue that I’m super excited about is Ike Reibun’s continuation of Tatsu no Otoshigo! I really liked that while it was running but it felt like it ended so abruptly sobbb. So I let out a pretty dumb excited noise when I saw ‘Tatsu no Otoshigo 2’ listed. Then of course there’s Nimoda Ai, Umematsu Machie, Kitazawa Kyou… definitely another great issue!
also related to LYNX, if you go to their site they now have sample pages up for both Nimoda Ai and Katsuragi’s releases. I highly recommend checking them out, since both artists have gorgeous styles and really cute stories.
♔ → another magazine coming out this month that I’m excited about (though in a more bittersweet way, since I probably can’t afford to buy it) is Daria! If you go to the actual magazine page they just listed the cover last night and it’s very cute. Also, the lineup. ;A;)/ Ahhh Ootsuki Miu and Kumonosuke!! I’m so tempted to buy it but I’ve already told myself countless times to just wait for the book releases. Who wants to make bets on whether I’m patient enough to hold out?
♔ → Not necessarily BL-related, but Kumota Haruko’s story through ITAN will be releasing its second volume early next month. So quick! orz;;; You can pre-order it here. Unfortunately I haven’t seen the cover illustration yet. I think last time it was posted on Comic Natalie before it was shared anywhere else so I guess I’ll just have to keep an eye out for it. Kumota Haruko’s first release of 2012! Hopefully this means 2012 will be full of her work.
♔ → The cover for the latest issue of Cab was finally revealed! This time it’s Hideyoshico. \*w*/ Also I’m glad to see Ogura Muku and Konohara Narise are back again this issue after a short hiatus last time. Castle Mango really always leaves so many things unresolved by the end of each chapter. orz;; I wonder when Konohara will start tying up the loose ends instead of constantly creating more. This time around, of course I’m happy to see yet more Kevin Komine and Komeri, and I’m also absolutely pumped to see more Mita Ori. Though it said there would be Kimura Hidesato in this issue and I don’t see her name… ;; Sad. I’m also sad to see there isn’t more Aako! I absolutely loved her story from Cab 16.
Anyway you can see more on the story titles and such here. It’s kind of interesting to see Komeri will evidently be starting a longer story again! Usually she just sticks to oneshots and her longer stories up to this point usually weren’t planned.
♔ → There is also now a more high-quality version of Canna’s cover posted up. Very pretty and dreamy—somewhat unlike most of the covers Canna has featured thusfar. As expected of Yamada Torico, though. Her watercolor work is seriously stunning.
♔ →I’m sure you all know by now that this month Hidaka Shouko will be releasing volume three of her hit series Hana wa Saku ka. However, did you know she’ll also be releasing a book through Hanaoto in February called Hatsukoi no Atosaki? This is definitely a good season for Hidaka Shouko fans!
possibly in celebration of Kinoshita Keiko’s upcoming double release through their publisher, the newest cover of HertZ is adorned with her lovely artwork.
Sadly, this totally caught me by surprise because I realized… I haven’t even read band 46 of HertZ yet. orz;;;; Aside from the final chapter of Hakumokuren I’ve only flipped through it so far. And since I only flipped through, I didn’t even bother looking at the back contents to see who would be in the next issue. Ahhh, the joys of getting a huge box of books in the mail at the same time you get a new job.
Anyway, I’m also happily surprised to see the two colored pages are by two of my favorite HertZ writers: Kojima Lalako and Konno Satomi. *A*)/ Glorious! Both of them have absolutely stunning coloring so I’m ecstatic to see what they have to offer this time around. Actually, it’s great to see Konno Satomi back with a new story so quickly considering her last story finished up in the previous issue of HertZ. (And I still haven’t read it yet…)
Also, Inariya Fusanosuke has a Yaoi-Con report in this issue! Should be interesting.
I figured it’s been a while since I’ve done something like this, and I got a package in the mail with a bunch of magazines/anthologies today so. Why not? Since I’m sure it’ll take me a lot of time to actually properly read them all and even then I’ll likely be too lazy to do a proper write-up anyway.
vague warning for NSFW content, though I don’t think I took many pictures of sex scenes.
So yesterday my package came in the mail! \*A*/ To be honest, I was very very excited about HertZ. For about ten days until it was finally released, I checked the website every day hoping that the new cover would be posted soon. I really think HertZ is probably my favorite anthology. So many amazing stories in every issue.
vague warning for R-18 images.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m spending the day with my cats and some BL manga haha. I hope you all have lovely day regardless of whether you are romantically attached to anyone or not.
errr I skipped the last issue of this, didn’t I? Sorry about that—over December I had a lot on my plate. orz;;; But here I am to talk about the latest issue, so you’ll forgive me right?
Vague warning for R-18 content goes here.
♔ → Relentless refreshing of HertZ’s page has yet to yield a single anthology cover, but MatsuMieco’s latest tankoubon cover has been posted up along with the POP cover to HertZ’s ‘series’ page. So far, I’m unsure of how ‘impressed’ necessarily I am with the cover’s ability to allude to the story within, but taken at face value it’s very cute. I love how they’re breathlessly staring into each other’s eyes unfffff.
If you’re considering buying this manga and just need that one extra push, here you go: I really love this manga. It was in the first issue of HertZ I ever bought and it’s just amazing—bittersweet and terrible in parts but it’s just an all-around wonderful story about two boys who are unsure and afraid of their attraction toward each other. It Seriously, bro, buy it and you will totally not regret it.
♔ → The latest issue of Rutile has been released. For some reason I had no idea Yamamoto Kotetsuko would be on the cover of this issue and it’s just. Ahhhh. It is so cute holy jesus on a cracker.
One thing I am sad about, though, is once again Jaryuu Dokuro has backed out of this issue. I’m sure she is working hard and has a very good reason for it, but it doesn’t make it any less depressing each time she is suddenly not in a magazine or anthology that she was originally listed for. It admittedly makes me doubt her actually showing up in the latest issues of Citron and drap as well. But anyway, there’s also a gorgeous Tagura Tooru poster and a color page by Matsumoto Miecohouse and you can check all that out right here on their official site!
♔ → Speaking of Yamamoto Kotetsuko, she has two taknoubon coming out in the next months: Mad Cinderella in February through HertZ and the fourth volume of Honto Yajuu in March through Gush. Honto Yajuu is another one of those series that is getting abnormally long, but it’s so cute that I have trouble being bothered by it lmao. orz;;;;;
♔ → In more release news, Umematsu Machie also has two releases next month: one through Canna and then one through LYNX. February is now officially Umematsu Machie month in the BL world. Then there is also Kusama Sakae’s March release through Dear+ (if I recall correctly) for the second volume of Imero, Konjiki Runa’s February release through Aqua (and I think she mentioned a March release of her HertZ release? I’m not sure…), Kinoshita Keiko’s early upcoming releases in both late February and early March through Dear+ and Asuka respectively, and then only about a million other releases. Watch me go broke during tax season.
♔ → Is everyone else super excited for the tankoubon release of Kumota Haruko’s Itoshi no Nekokke? *A* I am definitely super super excited—‘counting down the days’ excited, even! The cover looks absolutely beyond amazing, going by the samples they provided in their latest blog post. And there’s also this super duper adorable top-bar image from Citron’s site:
There will also be a ‘Kumota Haruko fair’ (sounds like my kind of fair right there—no clowns, only amazing BL manga) and signing event on February 19th. If you’ll be in Japan on that date and would like to meet Kumota, you can find the details here.
